Turkish architect Melike Altınışık challenges this narrative, arguing that while parametric tools can generate intelligent systems, they must prioritize cultural and environmental relevance over stylistic uniformity.
Altınışık, who previously worked under Zaha Hadid, believes parametricism was never about visual identity but rather about learning to navigate complexity. She notes that early discussions around parametricism helped shift architecture from object-making to system-thinking, emphasizing adaptability and performance criteria rather than static forms. However, she warns that if algorithms were used to produce a single global visual language, that would represent a misunderstanding of their potential.
In her view, the future of architecture lies in intelligence behind processes that produce meaningful outcomes rather than uniformity. Parametricism, though influential, evolved from being a style to a mindset, one that encourages architects to think algorithmically and integrate nature, technology, and human experience into cohesive systems.

Altınışık emphasizes that these designs do not replicate Hadid’s fluid forms but instead focus on the intelligence of the system itself.
While Schumacher argues that parametricism will continue to evolve as a universal style, Altınışık sees the movement as a paradigm shift—one that requires education to teach both traditional and digital skills to foster innovation without homogenizing design.
