Over $1 million has been allocated for restoration and preservation, including a recent $40,000 clear-coat treatment for wood structures. The site's annual operating budget is approximately $150,000, and visitation numbers support the current staffing model.
Despite Mowdy's concerns, the department has made staffing changes post-retirement, opting for a part-time employee to manage the site. This decision has resulted in adjusted visitor center hours, ensuring the grounds remain accessible to the public with interpretive panels for self-guided tours.
